My Journey

......and it's go, go go. Here were a few highlights from our trip.


We had an awesome time with our friends at the snow. Five families consisting of 10 adults, 11 kids all staying in a mountain lodge at beautiful Lake Tahoe. We all had such a blast. A much needed time away and time together. Skiing, sledding, snowmobiling, hot tubing, kicking it around the fire, worshiping through music and prayer, sharing meals together, laughs together and even getting a chance to break bread with a family we met there. It was all very well worth it.

You would think with that many people there would be a fair share of arguments and attitudes, especially among the kids, but really everyone got along wonderfully. The place suited our needs perfectly. It had a big living and kitchen area where we could all hang out, gather together and then each family had their own hotel-type room. It's perfect for groups and with our group being so large and still growing, we'll definitely go back (maybe a summer visit too).

So we get back Monday with just enough time to unpack and then repack Hannah to send her off to 6th grade science camp. I'm feeling a little sad about her being gone. Yeah, it's only been a few hours, but I miss my baby already. I know she'll have a awesome time with all her school friends. A time I'm sure she'll look back on fondly.

I can remember when I went to camp in 6th grade. It was cool just being away with the whole class like that. I remember the infamous "night hike" where some of us girls pretended to be really scared so we could cuddle up close to a cute boy and hold his hand. It was all a very innocent time, but I couldn't help be a little concerned when my daughter told me she was excited about a night hike they get to go on. I hadn't told her about mine yet, maybe I'll wait to see how hers went first. I'm just not ready for all these changes she'll be going through. I am so thankful she has a good relationship with Jesus. Something I did not have at that age as well as an open communication with her parents. We talk about everything. I really pray those lines stay open.

So she's off to camp and we get ready for Keith's hand surgery tomorrow at 6am. Wow, that's early and in Alameda which means we'll be on the road way before my eyelids ever like to be open. They're taking a piece of his hip bone and screwing it back into his wrist to replace bone that broke years ago and never healed properly. It's an out-patient surgery, but still a major surgery if you ask me. They have to cut out bone from one place and screw it back in another. Yuk! So he'll be out of commission for a few days and living with use of only one hand for the next few months. He's feeling a bit anxious about it, and honestly, I am too. Your prayers will be much appreciated during this time.
