I will NOT be discouraged!

I had my evaluation with my fitness trainer this morning at the gym I go to. Not good. I went up 5 pounds since I joined in October. :( That’s only three months ago! Sure, this a bad time of season, being sick, kids sick, Thanksgiving and Christmas, blah, blah, blah. Excuses, excuses. Truth is, I have made some poor choices when it comes to food and exercise and more importantly my relationship with God in regards to my addiction where food is concerned.
But I’m back on! I’m NOT gonna let this hold me down. It’s a brand new year. It’s a brand new day. Everyday is a brand new day. Thank you Lord for always being there when I fall. Waiting with arms open wide for me to come back to You. For loving me, just the way I am. For showing me that Your ways are always better than mine. For everything You are.
Great Book!!!

I am loving this book!!
A very good friend of mine suggested this book for me and I have just been totally blown away by it.
I love the way this author writes. He's just so identifiable. He brings these "what if" type of questions that really get you thinking. I am just eating this book up. I'll be bringing this book up again with my home group to read together as a group. It's just awesome.
I don't want to give too much detail here, but one thing that I thought was just really cool that the author writes about was how the religious leaders in Jesus' day rejected him because He didn't fit their
idea of what their messiah was supposed to look like; and especially with whom Jesus associated with.
Likewise, the author brings it ahead to the second coming and what that would look like to us today. We all know what the Scriptures say, but what I thought was interesting was that he(the author) writes what we may have imagined that to look like. It's not hard to imagine the King of Kings and Lord of Lords riding through the clouds on his stallion and the trumpets blaring. The author writes this:
"But what if the guys playing the horns turned out to be a few men playing on a street corner in a small town in Arkansas, and what if the horse Jesus rode on wasn't a Kentucky thoroughbred, but a belligerent donkey? And what if Jesus, after He got here, frequented homeless shelters and bars and ate and drank with the kinds of cultures evangelicals have declared war against? And what if, when He came like a thief in the night, He came very quietly so that nobody noticed, and what if, crime of all crimes, He was ugly and when He went on CNN producers were uncomfortable with His appearance and only shot Him from the waist up, in a certain light? And what if, when He answered questions, He talked with a hick accent, and only spoke in parables that nobody could understand, and what if He didn't align Himself with a political party, and what if He didn't kiss anybody's butt?"
He goes on and on, but I just was wowed by this. I mean it really gets you thinking. It did for me anyway. There is so much more amazing things in this book, I could go on and on, but I don't want to ruin it for you. Go read it. You wont be disappointed.
